Tim Fosh

Senior Counsel at Slaughter and May

London, United Kingdom

About Me

Tim is senior counsel in the financial regulation group at Slaughter and May (although all views are his own).

His practice incorporates transactional and non-transactional work for both financial and non-financial institutions.

Recent work has involved providing advice to UK, European and international clients on all manner of UK banking and securities regulation.

Tim has also advised a number of Fintech start-ups on the scope of their regulated activities, including when regulatory permission is required and how best to structure a group and/or product set to ensure regulatory efficiency. This has often progressed into providing strategic advice to regulated and unregulated Fintech clients on their expansion plans and how best to manage associated authorisation requirements/processes and regulatory risk.

Tim has a particular interest in cryptocurrencies and the developing regulation thereof (watch this space!). Other topics which Tim finds interesting at the moment (well, someone's got to) include commodities derivative regulation, bank ring-fencing, CBDCs, RegTech, cyber risk in financial services, AI and smart contracts.
